11 is the number of 190 X 200 cm oil paintings that Raffaele Cioffi has prepared for the Conventional Hall of Cuttic Palace in Alexandria. These paintings are painted between 2015 and 2016 of the same size that will be part of the Civic Museum halls dialoging with the spaces of the Palace.
One of the 11 canvases is a homage to the newly restored Celeste Sphere.
It is a search, his, intending to portray the light through the color. A compact light, which is no longer just a spiritual space, but has the modern experience of the artificial light of monitors and neon, which gives it a full aesthetic dignity. At the same time Raffaele Cioffi’s research was questioned about how painting was done through the use of primary structures of artistic language and giving ample space to color as a dense and glazed chromatic dough. His work reaches a dimension of strong interaction with the environment: it becomes a screen that unfolds on a further and unreal dimension. For this reason, as the painter Claudio Olivieri wrote, Raffaele Cioffi’s paintings become like “curtains” on a deep dimension made of sudden beams of energy.
